The Applied Mathematics and Computational Sciences (AMCS) program has six focal areas, each of which leads to a frontier of applied and computational mathematics. The areas are (1) partial differential equations; (2) geometric modeling and scientific visualization; (3) information science; (4) modeling and numerical simulation; (5) computational geosciences; and (6) computational and mathematical biosciences.

Applied Mathematics and Computational Sciences Program is currently interested in receiving high caliber Faculty applications, with research interests in the following areas:

Simulation and Data Analytics at Extreme Scale

Numerical algorithms for emerging architectures with a premium on power efficiency at scale through reduction in communication, synchronization, and storage. Computational simulation and data analytics at extreme scale are focal areas within the CEMSE Division. Appropriate candidates could be appointed to the Computer Science (CS) or Applied Mathematics and Computational Science (AMCS) programs, or both, and could have an affiliation with the Strategic Initiative in Extreme Computing

We are interested in applicants with background primarily in computational statistics and modeling, spatial statistics, or analysis of large and complex datasets, though excellent candidates with other expertise in statistics related to sciences and engineering will be considered as well.

Visualization and Imaging

Visualization and Imaging with emphasis on Scientific Data and Image Understanding, and Visualization and including (but not limited) to computer vision, machine learning for computer vision, large-scale image understanding, computational photography, scientific data understanding and visualization, bio-image analysis, and seismic image analysis. This position is closely aligned with the The Geometric Modeling and Scientific Visualization Center (GMSV)

Applicants should have a proven track record, relevant PhD degree, as well as the ability to establish a high impact research program and demonstrate commitment to teaching at the graduate level.

How to Apply

To apply for a faculty position please complete the online application form (accessible by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page).

You will need to collate your application materials into a single pdf file and then upload your application file. To prevent any delays in reviewing your application, please ensure that your documentation is complete and includes the following sections:

  • Up-to-date CV which includes full publication list
  • a research plan
  • a statement of teaching interests
  • a list of the names/affiliation and contact details of at least four potential referees

Please note

  • Due to the high volume of applications that we receive only applications submitted through the online form will be considered.
  • Applications received by the advertised deadline will receive full consideration. However, positions will remain open until filled.
